Modular Distance Sensor Features:
ACCURATE SPEED MEASUREMENTS: The electronic speed signal in all newer vehicles is an extremely low level signal at low speeds. IIn fact, many speedometers don’t register under 2-4 MPH. That’s really not a problem for normal vehicle operation but a BIG problem if you must use their low level speed signals for measuring distance. When the vehicle starts moving, your DMI better start counting. While most other Electronic Sensors will detect low level signals down to only 60-30 millivolts, the JAMAR Modular Distance Sensor will detect down to a 10 millivolt signal, thereby providing much more accurate distance measurements.
RELIABLE: All other manufacturers’ sensors are designed to be installed in a very unfriendly environment… under the vehicle’s hood. High temperatures and exposure of wiring to moisture create unnecessary failures and down time for the customer. The JAMAR Modular Distance Sensor is designed to be located inside the vehicle, typically under the dashboard, which not only allows for a cleaner installation but also places the MDS in a much more friendly environment.
MODULAR DESIGN: Simple installations are achieved by using three (3) plug-in connectors. One to the DMI, one to 12 volts/ground and one to the vehicle speed sensor (VSS). For even greater simplicity, the Quick Kit (exclusively from JAMAR) allows you to plug into the vehicle’s 12-volt receptacle to obtain power/ground. It can’t get much easier than that. Not only is the installation much quicker, it is cleaner than having to work in the vehicle’s engine compartment.
SELF DIAGNOSTICS: Only JAMAR Modular Distance Sensors have a SENSOR TEST button to verify that the sensor is functioning properly. In addition, a built-in TAP TEST feature allows you to easily verify that the DMI power signal cable, and the DMI itself, are working properly. These simple tests could save a great deal of time, and you don’t even have to raise the hood to perform them.
LOW COST: The MDS Kit from JAMAR actually COSTS LESS than other manufacturers’ conventional under hood sensor kits.
RAC PLUS I Features:
SHALLOW CASE DESIGN: Light weight, high-impact ABS plastic case (7.8"W x 2.3"H x1.2"D) allows you to mount the DMI to the front of the dashboard or virtually anywhere inside the vehicle.
CHANGE DESIGN: Pre-Distance if starting at a known point, count up/down or add/subtract distance from current display.
DUAL LED DISPLAYS: Dual 6-digit LED Displays are easy to read at any angle both day & night. The dual displays separate distance data from speed, calibration number, vehicle number, time and menu selections.
COUNT AND DISPLAY HOLD: Freeze the display while continuing to accumulate distance with Display Hold or stop accumulation of distance with Count Hold.
FOUR BRIGHTNESS LEVELS: Select the level best suited for ambient light conditions.
INTERVAL DISTANCE: Display distance intervals between points of interest (Telephone Poles, Signs, Pavement, Markings, etc.)
MENU DRIVEN: Simplifies user selection for various operational capabilities.
DISTANCE CONVERSION: With a simple push of the Unit key, convert distance from Feet to Miles to Kilometers.
AUTOMATIC CALIBRATION: Allows quick, simple calibration on all vehicles. Stores four separate vehicle calibration numbers for multi-vehicle usage.
DISTANCE PULSE OUTPUT: Send calibrated distance pulses to a lap top computer or ancillary equipment. The interval and duration of the output signal are user selectable from keyboard.
EXTREMELY ACCURATE: Distance measurements accurate to 1 foot per mile, even at slow speeds.
DEPENDABLE: A power-on self test (POST) is performed each time the DMI is turned on. As part of the POST, the calibration number is displayed for your verification.
